CATIA V5 Training
CATIA is the reference 3D CAD solution in aerospace, automotive and heavy industry. This course teaches you to model complex parts, assemble mechanical systems and prepare professional drawings in a leading collaborative environment.
- Duration 2 to 3 days
- Level Beginner to intermediate
- Format On site (your premises) or online
- Price from 1100 € excl. VAT / day
- Lead time 14 days after the training agreement is signed
Learning objectives
- Understand the CATIA user interface and workbenches.
- Create and modify 3D parts by solid modelling (Part Design).
- Design complex shapes by surface modelling (Generative Shape Design).
- Build complex assemblies (Assembly Design) and manage their constraints.
- Generate associative drawings and dimensioned views (Drafting).
- Use parametric design and relations between objects to ease modifications.
- Organise multi-body and multi-part projects efficiently and apply industrialisation best practices.
Syllabus
Day 1 — Part Design
- Interface, workbenches, specification tree; sketches (Sketcher) and constraints.
- Solid features: pad, shaft, pocket, holes, fillets, drafts; multi-body and Boolean operations.
- Parameters, formulas and relations.
Day 2 — Surfaces and assemblies
- Generative Shape Design: curves, surfaces, blends, complex shapes.
- Assembly Design: insertion, constraints, clash analysis, simple kinematic simulation.
- Organising multi-body and multi-part projects.
Day 3 (optional) — Drafting and industrialisation
- Associative drawings: views, sections, dimensions, annotations, bill of materials.
- Modelling best practices for industrialisation; work on a part from your company.
Audience and prerequisites
Engineers, project managers and anyone working in mechanical design. Prerequisites: basic knowledge of mechanics and design.
Teaching methods and assessment
Course materials, corrected exercises, mini-project, end-of-course assessment reviewed by Numersalis, certificate of completion. Participants work on their company's CATIA licences.
Why train with Numersalis?
CATIA is one of the tools of our CAD design office, particularly for aerospace and energy projects: the course draws on real parts and real documentation requirements.
Funding
Numersalis is Qualiopi certified: for companies based in France, our courses are eligible for funding through your OPCO training fund. We help you with the paperwork.
Accessibility
Our courses are open to people with disabilities: contact us so we can plan the adjustments you need.
Frequently asked questions
The standard syllabus covers CATIA V5. The Part Design, Assembly and Drafting workbenches also exist in 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA; we adapt the course to your version during scoping.
It is presented on day 2 because it is in high demand in aerospace and automotive. For a team focused on weldments or sheet metal, this part can be replaced by the corresponding workbenches.
Yes: a representative model sent before the session becomes the material for the drafting and industrialisation day.
