Learning objectives

Discover the interface and main features of Microsoft Visio.
Create basic diagrams: org charts, flowcharts, process diagrams.
Use stencils and standard shapes; connect and arrange shapes to represent flows.
Customise diagrams: colours, styles, connectors, advanced formatting.
Import and link external data to shapes (Excel, Access…).
Manage page layout, printing and export; build multi-page and complex diagrams.
Automate diagram creation from data sources and apply readability best practices.

Syllabus

Day 1 — Fundamentals

Interface, stencils, shapes and connectors; alignment and distribution.
Org charts, flowcharts and process diagrams (simplified BPMN).
Formatting: themes, styles, layers; page layout, printing and export (PDF, image).

Day 2 — Living diagrams

Linked data: importing Excel or Access data, data graphics, refresh.
Multi-page diagrams, hyperlinks, navigation; technical diagrams and layouts.
Automatic diagram generation from data; readability best practices.

Day 3 (optional) — Your diagrams

Custom templates and stencils for your organisation.
Work on the participants' own processes and org charts.

Audience and prerequisites

Engineers, support technicians, managers and project managers. Prerequisites: ability to use a computer in a Windows environment.

Teaching methods and assessment

Course materials, corrected exercises, building your organisation's own diagrams, end-of-course assessment reviewed by Numersalis, certificate of completion.
