Simcenter FloMaster Training

Simcenter FloMaster is the reference software for 1D fluid simulation of networks: widely used in energy, particularly nuclear, but also in automotive and aerospace, it lets you build a network, set boundary and initial conditions and simulate steady, transient and incompressible flows. By the end of the course, participants model a representative network, run their simulations and interpret the results on their own.

  • Duration 2 to 3 days
  • Level Beginner to intermediate
  • Format On site (your premises) or online
  • Price from 1100 € excl. VAT / day
  • Lead time 14 days after the training agreement is signed

Learning objectives

  • Draw a network in FloMaster and enter the right parameters.
  • Model a network that represents a real installation.
  • Choose the appropriate simulation type, run it and interpret the results.
  • Understand solver errors and warnings in order to make models reliable.

Syllabus

Getting started (2 days)

  • Creating projects and networks; getting familiar with the graphical interface.
  • Components: pipes, valves (appropriate Cv curves), pumps (pump curves), tanks, controllers.
  • Entering data and choosing the right parameters; simulation types (steady, transient, incompressible).
  • Understanding errors and warnings.
  • Post-processing simulation data; reports and analyses based on FloMaster results.
  • Real applications and interpretation of results.

Going further (1 day, optional)

  • Running "Experiments": parametric and sensitivity studies.
  • In-depth analysis of transient phenomena: pressure waves and water hammer, breaches and leaks.
  • Modelling tips, model organisation, validation best practices.

Audience and prerequisites

Anyone involved in 1D fluid simulation: design-office engineers and technicians, network operators, project managers. Prerequisites: basic fluid mechanics (flow rate, pressure, pressure losses).

Teaching methods and assessment

Course materials, documentation, corrected exercises on typical networks (cooling circuit, water network, process loop), end-of-course assessment reviewed by Numersalis, certificate of completion. Participants work on their company's licences.

Why train with Numersalis?

FloMaster is one of the tools our engineers use in our own fluid and process simulation services: the course draws on real industrial cases, particularly in nuclear and energy, and on the questions we meet on projects.

Funding

Numersalis is Qualiopi certified: for companies based in France, our courses are eligible for funding through your OPCO training fund. We help you with the paperwork.

Accessibility

Our courses are open to people with disabilities: contact us so we can plan the adjustments you need.

Frequently asked questions

FloMaster solves the flow equations in 1D along a network: it quickly computes flow rates, pressures and temperatures across a complete installation (pipes, pumps, valves, heat exchangers). 3D CFD resolves the flow inside a component in detail. The two approaches complement each other; we also offer STAR-CCM+ and ANSYS Fluent courses.

Yes: transient simulations are part of the getting-started days, and the optional third day is devoted to pressure waves, water hammer and breaches.

Yes. Send us a diagram or a model before the session: we build the third-day exercises around your installation.
